Privacy policy.

What we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can do about it. Written without the legalese.

Effective June 3, 2026

This policy explains how layrs (“layrs”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and product (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to this policy.

1. What we collect

Account information

When you sign in via an OAuth provider (Google, GitHub) or magic-link email, we receive your email address, display name, and provider ID. We do not receive or store passwords for any third-party provider.

Profile and learning data

Anything you enter into the product: learning goals, prompts, chosen tracks, lesson progress, rubric grades, and notes. We also store the AI’s outputs that we generated for you: roadmaps, lesson briefs, session transcripts, and adaptation signals.

Voice sessions

Voice tutoring sessions are streamed through our voice infrastructure provider. Audio is processed in real time for speech-to-text and is not retained as raw audio after the session ends. The text transcript and the rubric outcomes are retained as part of your learning record.

Usage data

Standard product analytics: pages visited, features used, approximate timing. We log technical metadata (browser, OS, IP-derived country) for security and debugging.

Feedback

When you submit feedback through the in-app form, we store the message, the page URL you were on, and your user-agent string.

2. How we use it

  • To run the Service: generate curricula, run sessions, save your progress.
  • To adapt the Service to you: the whole point of the product is that the roadmap reshapes based on what you defend and what you wave through.
  • To operate the business: bill paid plans, prevent abuse, secure accounts.
  • To improve the Service: aggregated, de-identified usage patterns inform what we build next.
  • To communicate with you: transactional emails, replies to your feedback, and product announcements you can opt out of.

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers we need to operate the product:

  • Supabase for database, authentication, and storage.
  • LiveKit for real-time voice infrastructure.
  • Anthropic and other LLM providers for the AI generations the product depends on. Your prompts and lesson context are sent to these providers in order to produce the response. Their data-handling policies are listed on their respective sites.
  • DodoPayments, and Razorpay for payments in India, for payment processing on paid plans.
  • Email and analytics providers for transactional email and product analytics.

We may disclose information if required by law, to respond to valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of layrs, our users, or the public.

4. Where it’s stored

Data is stored in cloud regions operated by our infrastructure providers, primarily in the United States and the European Union. Information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than the one you live in.

5. How long we keep it

Account data is kept for as long as your account is active. Learning records (sessions, briefs, rubric outcomes) are kept for as long as your account is active so the adaptive loop has history to work with. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or accounting reasons.

6. Your rights

You can:

  • Access and export your data. Email us to request a copy.
  • Correct your profile information from the settings page.
  • Delete your account from the settings page. This removes your personal data per the schedule above.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing. If you are in the EEA, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR and the CCPA respectively.

To exercise any of these, email support@layrs.me.

7. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies for: keeping you signed in, remembering preferences (theme, sidebar state), and basic analytics. You can clear cookies in your browser at any time. Disabling cookies will sign you out.

8. Children

layrs is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. If we make material changes, we’ll notify you by email or via an in-product notice. The “Effective” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
