Why layrs exists
Every senior engineer has a list of topics they’ve “sort of” understood for years. MVCC. Kubernetes networking. CRDTs. The JVM memory model. You nod along in meetings, quietly google after, and the gap stays a gap.
The reason isn’t lack of material. There are great books, great talks, great courses. The reason is that none of them push back when you skip the part that’s actually hard. They can’t. They aren’t in the room with you.
layrs is in the room. The tutor asks. You explain. When you hand-wave, it stops you and asks the next question. When you nail it, the roadmap moves on. When you don’t, the prerequisite gets pulled in. You leave each session knowing exactly what you can defend and exactly what you can’t.
How it works
You name a goal. TCG, our curriculum generator, researches the topic, maps prerequisites, sequences lessons, and writes a brief for each one. The voice tutor runs the session against that brief. After each session, the tutor reports which concepts you defended and which you waved through, and the roadmap reshapes for next time.
The whole loop is voice-first. You talk. You draw on a live canvas. You think out loud. The interface gets out of your way.
